Movie-making Magic
A lot of the work we do is in contained environments, either here at OMG Studios, or at a client's office location. Sometimes, while at an office location we do have to deal with different office sounds, like laughter from coworkers after someone told a knee-slapping joke, but dealing with those instances aren't quite as impressive as dealing with sun and clouds and waiting, just waiting, for the exact moment that the sun decides to poke its head out from behind the clouds so we can grab the perfect shot.
In the above video, you get a rare glimpse behind the scenes of that moment when the sun and the entire crew experienced alignment to capture a shot for the upcoming series, It's Gonna Be OK Corral, that we are producing with our client, United Vision for Idaho. This four-part series shares UVI's story, the impact they make in our community, and how you can join their cause.
The above clip is also an example of the wide range of video content that we produce at OMG Media Outlet. This series is known as a narrative, a story that was written (in this case by the executive director of UVI) and follows a script from start to finish. Every shot is planned out before the crew arrives on set to properly light, properly mic the talent, and properly set up the camera.
This type of content is different from our "run-and-gun" documentary-style work we create for a lot of our clients. Where we have a pretty good idea of what we're shooting, we just don't know the exact shot until we're standing right in front of it. We show up, turn on the camera, adjust for light, and start rolling to grab that awesome b-roll (for example) of volunteers purposefully choosing food to place in a basket at the food bank to be hand delivered to someone waiting outside, no questions asked, just food and necessary items, a friendly smile, and a caring nod. Those shots can only be created in the moment, like a first kiss at a wedding. And if you don't get that shot - say someone stood up right in front of your camera at the exact moment that the bride and groom leaned into each other - you might as well start figuring out how you're going to give that couple a refund. And no, we definitely don't do weddings, although the two that I have done in the past, were solid. I always get the shot.
I love collaborating with my clients on any content, no matter what. From narratives to documentary-style impact videos, informational videos that utilize a lot of motion graphics (can't share that series quite yet ;) ) to lifestyle photoshoots, podcasts, and promo videos, we'll help take your concept from an idea to a video to your audience and beyond. Schedule time to chat with me - let's make movie magic together.

Join our friends at Full Swing on the Main Salmon!
Full Swing will be partnering with Canyons River Company to provide "media training that helps you speak with confidence, respond under pressure, and shape the narrative—even when the questions go sideways. And you’ll learn it all while navigating rapids, soaking in hot springs, and sleeping under the stars on Idaho’s wild and scenic Main Salmon River."
Visit Full Swing's website to learn more (and see photos of Caitlin and I on the river last year!). That summer trip with Canyons was one of the most incredible experiences I've had in my lifetime thus far. Will you join us for an epic river trip September 5-10th, while also discovering your brand and voice? Secure your spot by June 6th!
