Happy New Year!

OMG Studios Boise made it through its first year of business! December 1st was our official 1-year anniversary of being in our space, while January 1st was the official 1-year anniversary of our LLC. And on January 31st, I will celebrate 2-years of being fully self-employed. OMG!

In 2022, I took the leap and left my corporate job after creating video content for 7-years with HP. I loved what I did, but I always wanted to have my own production company. After 5-years of my side-hustle with #OMGFemaleFilmmakers - it’s own official LLC since 2017 - I finally took the leap and turned that into my main hustle. No more sides for me!

While these are major milestones, I can’t forget the smaller moments in how I got here and how integral 2023 was in the growth of me personally and of my production companies. It was my first year running a physical video and audio production studio and my final year of grad school. That was a lot - I don’t recommend doing all the things at the same time. It caused some major health issues that started on the first day of my last course, but I managed to make it through to the end between health tests, running two LLCs, and completing a grad degree program. And I welcome 2024 with widely open arms and appreciation for everyone who has stuck with me through it all.

Namely this guy …

Cary Judd was one of the first people I reached out to when I found my studio space. Even before I put in my letter of intent, I had him and a couple of other film nerds (just like us) tour the space with me and tell me all the things I might need to do to outfit it for video production. Once I signed my lease, I brought Cary on to hand-build the sound baffling that we have around the studio to absorb the echo that inevitably comes with a cyc wall. From there, he has become my right hand. He’s my second camera on a lot of our shoots, our in-house audio engineer, and editor of many of our projects. He also keeps me in check and reminds me to take time to create things that are not client-related.

We make a great team and I’m looking forward to our growth both in the studio and outside the studio. This was us before a very cold 6-mile run with his partner and 100’s of other people around the valley who think it’s fun to run up a hill and back down in December.

A look at some of our 2023 projects

We would not still be here today if it weren’t for our amazing clients. Thank you to every single one of you who have continued to engage with us on your video content and studio rentals. We LOVE our clients and are looking forward to a great 2024 with all of you!

The Future of Dermatology Podcast

We have been producing The Future of Dermatology Podcast with Dr. Faranak Kamangar since August and are loving its growth! Each week, Dr. Kamangar and her guests cover topics from psoriasis, to eczema, to skin care, to AI, and more. Whether you’re a doctor or a patient, these episodes provide valuable information about your skin and how to navigate the world of dermatology.

Not only do we record and edit Dr. Kamangar’s podcasts, we’ve also crafted her podcast branding and manage her podcast feed and YouTube channel. I have learned so much about my own skin through working with Dr. Kamangar.

140th Annual Boise Metro Chamber Gala Video

We were honored to be the official video sponsor for the Boise Metro Chamber’s annual Gala. This one was a fun one to create! For this project, we met with great people in Boise to interview them and learn about how the Chamber has supported their growth in the community. After our shoots, we took this footage back to the studio to edit and produce what you see today.

Join us at Boise Cascade

Boise Cascade has been a great client to work with this past year. We have produced a number of internal trainings on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with their DEI Director, along with onboarding videos for new hires. We’ve enjoyed getting to know their team both at their Boise location and when they step into our studio for voice over work with these projects!

Welcome to Garden City

United Way of the Treasure Valley Holiday Helper

This event is always such a joy to participate in and create video content for. We love United Way of Treasure Valley! For this project, we brought on a cinematographer that I used to work with at HP. Both Cary and I were booked with another shoot that evening, so we brought on our friend Kevin Nielson. It was fun editing this project together using footage gathered from someone who had never experienced Holiday Helper before. Being able to hire someone for a project is what makes us successful and consistently available to our clients.

Moving Forward Toward Independence

Love this nonprofit! I was able to visit Moving Forward Toward Independence in Napa, California twice to create video content, meet the residents and staff, and spend time with incredible people. This video was produced for their 25th Gala and you only see a snippet of the interviews and b-roll I gathered. From my first trip to MFTI, I was able to produce this short, a longer version that was shown at their gala, a recap video from their gala, and 60-second person-to-person shorts that highlight individual residents and their growth through MFTI. Proof that spending just two days with a client can produce a multitude of video content that can be utilized for various purposes from in-person gatherings to posting on YouTube and social media platforms.
